Overview of Our NSWIB Meetings

The meeting begins with NSWIB announcements and other organization information. At each meeting the sponsor speaks for 5 minutes and table networking is conducted for up to 10 minutes depending on the meeting schedule. Speakers are selected by the NSWIB Program Committee based on survey feedback from members to ensure that topics presented are appropriate to the group. At the conclusion of the meeting, members and guests are invited to meet the speaker and continue networking with others as time permits.

NSWIB Speakers Guidelines

NSWIB strives to provide programs that meet membership needs. All programming is intended to address the professional development of our members. To identify programs and topics of interest, the Program Committee's goal is to distribute an annual survey to members. Survey responses provide the guidelines for special event planning and topic selection for the following year.

Based upon identified membership needs, the program committee selects speakers with demonstrated expertise in the topic area and skill in disseminating information clearly and concisely. Previous experience in public speaking is strongly recommended, but not required.

Potential speakers may come from both inside and outside NSWIB. However, preference is not given to members. Speakers are not present to sell their services but rather to share knowledge and experience with NSWIB members and guests. Self-promotion is permitted during the networking portion of our program and after our event. Promotional material may be placed on the dining tables. Speakers are also permitted to sell their products at the conclusion of the meeting. Speakers are not paid for their presentations or expenses. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the committee chair.

About North Shore Women In Business Meetings

NSWIB typically conducts morning meetings for members and guests on the third Thursday of each month. Registration begins at 7 am and the meeting runs from 7:30 am to 9 am. The exceptions to the schedule are as follows:

Annual Fund Raising Event: Taste of Success! April 12, 2012

For the past three years, NSWIB has featured a wine and food tasting event which replaces the annual auction that the organization ran each fall. This is the major fund raiser for the organization; the revenue raised helps NSWIB continue to offer programs that help our members learn and grow. Additionally, a portion of the funds are allocated as a donation. This year, a portion of proceeds will benefit the Sue deVries Cancer Foundation, and the Lesley Fox Denny Memorial Scholarship. Join us at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield for a fantastic evening!

June Luncheon Meeting:

Registration begins at 11:30 am; meeting begins at Noon and ends at 2 pm. The focus of this luncheon is to recognize NSWIB members who have contributed to the organization via participation in committees. Entitled "The Spirit of NSWIB Awards", numerous women are recognized for their ongoing commitment. This event began in June of 2007 and replaces the NSWIB Woman of the Year Luncheon.

October Annual Dinner:

In 2006 NSWIB directors decided to bring back the annual meeting to install new officers and directors and to show appreciation to outgoing members. The location will vary and is announced a month prior to the event.

NSWIB Business Showcase:

This meeting is free to all attendees (members and guest) and occurs the first or second week of November. Member exhibitors register for full or half tables and showcase their products and services to participants during this morning event. Registration for event is distributed two to three months prior to the meeting; early bird registration incentives are offered. Showcase attendees are not required to pre-register for the event and may register upon entrance to the showcase. A raffle item is offered during this event as well.
